Hotel Regina Elena Santa Margherita

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Regina Elena in Santa Margherita - any comments appreciated. We now have a choice of this hotel, Hotel Laurin or Hotel Continental for a trip in September? Thanks.

We loved the Hotel Laurin - perfect location right on the picturesque harbor and within walking distance to the town and numerous restaurants, shops, etc. The room we had was large and had a terrace overlooking the harbor. There is also a great rooftop pool.

The Regina Elena is a little further up the road towards Portofino. It has its own beach which Laurin guests may also use.

Jocelyn, All 3 are nice properties, but my choice would be in this order:
Continental, Laurin, Regina Elena

I would not recommend Hotel Regina Elena,in SML. I stayed there two years ago, our rooms were not renovated,it was our least favorite of all the hotels on that trip. I've heard good things about the other two hotels mentioned.

Question for Bob the Navigator: Why do you rate the Continental as the best?
Our favorite European town is SML. We found it very quaint and picturesque.

Thanks everyone for replies. I have seen great reviews of the Continental but would prefer a swimming pool which the Laurin can offer so I think this will be the one!
