Hi,
I love love love Sorrento. Never been in Hotel Lorelei (obviously cause it was not open for a long time). But now I cannot wait to go and stay in that hotel. These postings about how it used to be really inspired me to, again, book a trip to Italy. Thank you!!

I knew they were working on it. Just looked at the photos. Wow! Fabulous renovation of the exterior. The prices are very high for our budget. Funny, it was a cheap hotel when we stayed, a welcoming place for poor travelers. My husband just said if anyplace deserves to be costly, it is this one because of the views and charm. I so much hope they kept the entrance filled with flowers and antiques. I hope the gardens are beautiful and they have a good restaurant. Most of all, I hope the magic is still there for future travelers! Please report back as soon as you can.

Oh, The Foreigners’ Club has nothing to do with Hotel Lorelei. It is a club that was started in the place the Allied Forces set up a bar after WWII. The setting overlooking the Bay is magnificent. Bands play every night and people from all over go to relax, eat and dance under the stars on their beautiful terrace. I recommend it because many people do not know about it and we enjoy it so much.

I am so looking forward to a report from you, and desperately hoping it is not just another modernized place.

I have always loved walking by there and fantasizing about that place. And I would expect it to be on the expensive side. But just checked prices for April and it's $800 a night, $1000 if you want a view. Guess fantasizing is all most of us are going to be doing.

OMG! Guess I will never get to stay there again either, unless I can somehow go right now with their opening prices. Well, all of us who were lucky enough to stay there in the past can feel doubly lucky to have ever stayed in such a spectacular place!

Had a moment to about it. Of course, owners have a right to do what they please and to make money, but it sure stinks that so many people who love the place and treasure memories of it will never be able to stay there again.
