Has anyone stayed at the Sleep in Italy apartment in Rome called "Montevecchio"?

I am thinking of renting it, but would like some feedback from someone who has actually stayed there re the pros and cons of the apartment.
Have looked on the Slow Travel site, but only a couple of reviews and cant find much else.

I haven't stayed in the apartment. Nice place though I note that it is on the 4th floor but NO lift. Also I can't see it stated that airconditioning is available.

And it probably means fifth floor, since the first floor is the one above ground level. You really want to trudge up and down five flights, especialley after a long day of touring?

I haven't stayed in the actual apartment, but did stay in one very close to there. The location is fantastic. We literally walked everywhere. It's very close to lots of tourist sites, grocery stores, restaurants, and the best gelato we had on our trip.

Our apartment was on the third/fourth floor. If you're in decent shape, it's really not a big deal. You're walking all day anyway - an extra flight of stairs won't kill you. (However, it would be incentive to pack light. Dragging huge suitcases upstairs is no fun.) A/C could be an issue, depending on when your trip is.

Jent103 - I am going for 6 weeks starting May 01 so I am assuming I will not need air con. Not too concerned with stairs as only have hand luggage and have rented previously in Paris where I had a climb of 96 stairs which certainly keeps you fit!
Tried google maps to see street (via di Montevecchio), but no luck. Hopefully its not above a bar/restaurant etc.

You will need A/C if staying May 1st thru Mid-June. A/C is one of those niceties that, when you don't have it, you would be willing to pay anything to get it!

The fact that is near Piazza Navona is unarguably a great location, but I am willing to bet that there are plenty apts within half mile of Piazza Navona with A/C and lower than 5 floors up. Sometimes it is not a matter of whether you can do the five floors 4 times a day, but whether you should plan in case you could not do it by the time the vacation comes around. Personally, I try to minimize risk when I am in an unfamilar setting and staying at a 5th floor apt with no lift adds risk to a vacation. Just a thought.

Try viewing Via della Pace in maps.google.com. You will get an idea of the neighborhood. It a a very charming area.

I agree about the A/C - we were there the second week of May and it was hot, 80 degrees or a little above each day with full sun. It didn't bother me during the day (though I'm used to pretty hot and humid summers), but it would have been hard to sleep at night without air conditioning. That's a bigger drawback to me than the stairs. I think you at least want to check with Sleep in Italy about the availability of fans.

I just want to add that I have rented from vrbo.com many times and ALWAYS had a GREAT experience (including the aprt in Rome!). Also take exception to two (2) prior remarks; I wired money to the aprtm owner in Rome with ZERO issues and the apartment was actually better in real life! There was a very nice, cozy feel to the apartment not captured by the photos. I absolutely loved my aprtm stay in Rome. I just recently went back to check and it has been taken out of vrbo listings. On an email, the owner stated there is some bathroom and kitchen remodeling going on (I did not even noted it would needed it!).

Agree with ensuring some form of ventilation; if no fans or A/C, pass.

We have wired money with no problems. Also found VRBO very satisfactory, and have found apts which have a lot of photos to usually be as advertised. I am more suspicious of places that have few photos and/or half of them are scenery. I also want to see the kitchen and the bathroom to see how big they are and how they are laid out. We also like sleepinitaly.com.

I would not take a 5th floor apt (likely the top floor) without A/C. It's hotter under the roof than lower down in a bldg. And it can get hot by the end of May.
