rome apartment

Hi ,

I am planning to rent the following apartment :
http://www.rentalinrome.com/dalistudio/dalistudio.htm

Please give suggestions. We are a couple and would be on our honeymoon trip.
We are planning to stay for 4 nights in first week of december.

Thanks

The bed arrangement is the only negative.

Via dei Cappellari is a great street. As you may know, most of the streets around there are named for the trades that were practiced in each: Chiavari (locksmiths) Giubbonari (jacket-makers) Cappellari (hatters). The trades are still there but now they are all high-end: jewellery designers, papermakers, etc etc.

I hope you noted that EU 3rd floor = NA 4th floor

The bed arrangement looks scary, but otherwise a compact, modern studio. Good location near the Campo dei Fiori, so it is in walking distance of lots of sights.

The fully equipped kitchen appears to consist of a microwave and a hot plate. it's four flights up. And high ceilings means each flight is very long. I don't like that bed arrangement, either. Dangerous.

It's certainly stylish.

I would not rent it.

hi haha,

i agree about the dangerousness of that bed arrangement - I'd be VERY worried about falling off.

we stayed in an apartment which would suit a couple, and was very well located.

lacasadiclelia.webs.com

the entrance [living room and kitchen] is on the ground floor with the bedrooms and bathrooms below - ie underground. Despite this it is very light and also quiet - a bonus I think.

have a great trip, wherever you decide to stay.

HaHA: The apartment you are considering is very reasonable. Is there any flex in your budget -- could you consider sthg a bit more expensive but still goode value? I may have a couple of suggestions, if so.

Here is where we always stay. It costs 110 E/ night if you are renting for less than a week.

It is booked Dec. 1, then is vacant until Dec. 12.

No charge for final cleaning. Wonderful location. Reliable company, too. About 10 minutes walk from P.za Navona.

I'd stay there for sure - if only for the sharp decor.

The bed is a bit suspect, but look, when did you last fall out of bed?

I admit, my heart jumped into my throat when I saw that bed! (Perhaps move it so it's flush with the wall, then if you roll over, you'll roll on the floor, not on the floor below!) We've used Rental in Rome and found them very easy to work with.

haha,

All of the apts you linked look fine and all are in good areas. The VRBO would be my first choice, the sleepinitaly second, although the rentalinrome ones are good too.

The rentalinrome ones look smaller (but they are cheaper, if price is a priority over living space).

The VRBO one looked claustrophobic to me, and then I saw the review that says there are no windows, and it's partially underground. I would definitely take the sleepinitaly one, myself. And they are easy to work with.

My sister and I once stayed on via dei Cappellari in a little studio from realrome.com. It was quite comfortable but a good deal less sharp looking than the rentalinrome place (which by the way I would rent, but I might be inclined to push the bed up against the wall and resign myself to just flopping in from the ladder).

I probably wouldn't choose the Amorino, though. Via dei Cappellari can have the occasional late-night stragglers coming from the Campo. Voices echo on that tiny street and I'd rather be on a higher floor--but I don't mind climbing stairs.

As bardo1 said, these are all in good areas and seem like they're decent enough for the money. Choose the one that works best for you. Do you hate stairs? Choose one of the ones on first or ground floor. Do you need sunshine? A higher floor will generally give you more light, especially on the narrow, winding streets of the historical center.

Congratulations on your marriage! Have a lovely honeymoon. Rome is great that time of year.

Excellent! Please post again after your trip and let people here know what you thought of the apartment. I was just looking at it and thinking, "Hmm, I wonder if it would work for my sister, her husband and their four year old?" If so, I could pay for their stay because it's quite well-priced.

Looks good. Having a separate bedroom is always nice, that is one of the advantages to an apartment versus a hotel room=a little more space.

Via degli Spagnoli is a very nice area -- certainly a quiet street.

We dined well at Il Bacaro, on the corner.
