Thanks for your reply regarding Hotel Wenglhof in St. Gilgen. I am trying to decide between staying there or at Schernthaner which several recommend. Do you know of anyone who has stayed at Wenglhof? I really like staying by the lake but wish I could find out more about the hotel.

We will be there mid-Sept. for 3 days, when will you be there?

I tried to contact them regarding availability for a reservation and no one responded.

I did e-mail them on the weekend and got a reply.

I also had a lot of trouble getting a reply from them. I eventually got a reservation through the Tiscover Austria website.

But then I actually mapped the property at google. The map on the hotel's website looks like it's right in town, but the google map shows them to be farther away from the center of town than I thought.

At the same time, a friend recommended the Pension Ferstl, which is right in town (though not on the lake). I changed my reservations. It really looks sweet!

I know I'll regret not being right ON the lake, but I think I'll enjoy being in town, too. I hope. YIKES. I keep going back and forth.

But it's done, and I'll not switch again!

Anyway, I'll be there 14-19 Sep.

Yes, that will be great!! I'm sorry I won't be able to help you with your hotel decision though. I did get a brochure from the Salzkammergut tourist office and really combed through the hotels. The Wenglhof is listed as 600 meters from the center of town, if that helps at all.
