Hotel search-weird ads?

As some of you might know, I've been planning a trip with friends to France this summer. We're also going to Venice for a couple of days, as well as Paris. I do a lot of research so I've been on many apartment and hotel booking sites over the past week. All is booked, confirmed and finished (whew!)

However, I am noticing that when I am on web sites unrelated to travel (such as TMZ, newspaper sites, and others), there are ads for "Venice Hotels" or "apartments in Paris." This isn't just happening occasionally, but it's happening all the time now.

Is this like buying a certain car then noticing how many of them are on the road or are my search cookies causing these to be planted? They are very specific--not "Book apartments in Venice, Rome and Florence" just "Venice" or "Paris."

Or... am I just crazy? Feel free to choose that option.

yeah, I've noticed it, also, it is Google doing it, it remembers what you've looked at before and then keeps advertising it. Very annoying.
