We are thinking about an apartment, we like the Granduomo http://www.granduomo.com/ the deluxe room, or Relais Piazza Signoria http://www.relaispiazzasignoria.com/apartments_01.htm the attic apt, and I like Casa Howard http://www.casahoward.com/eng/floren...ommodation.htm, but not sure about the location (Santa Maria Novella area). Any thoughts?

Another vote for La Residenza Proconsolo B & B. We stayed three nights in June and it is friendly, clean and we loved ordering what we wanted for breakfast and having it delivered to our room. Bathrooms nice and large, beds were a little hard but not terrible, ac was very nice. Steps from the Duomo and so convenient to the center of the city. Restaurants nearby. Found it in the NY Times a few years ago.
The staff is attentive and friendly. I am so glad I stayed there.

This is a beautiful hotel - http://www.palazzoguadagni.com/ - and will certainly be within your price range.

Romantic; perfectly located within a 10-minute walk from the Duomo; very affordable; and absolutely positively lovely. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We stayed here in October 2006, not knowing much about it at all. I so fell in love with the place, I asked the owner if I could move in. We would return in a heartbeat.
Try to book one of the "Suites." We stayed in the Actor Suite: amazing!
