It looks okay to me -- yikes, it should be for that price! The location is convenient for tourists and it sounds like it wouldn't be too noisy being high up. That isn't a super busy main thoroughfare, either. Now if it were in summer, I'd have second thoughts as you can bet I'd want AC for that price and it only has AC in the living room. Sleeping is when I really want it.

So, all in all, not too bad if you don't mind those things and like that price. I like to read, and apts like that drive me nuts as there isn't a single source of reading light in the entire living room. I guess you could drag over that floor lamp from the dining room (and it might have been put there for the photo). I don't see any TV in the photos, so I'd want to know where it is for viewing arrangements. I had an apt once that only had it in the bedroom, so you couldn't even watch in the living room for relaxing, and in the bedroom, it wasn't even in a convenient location. If you don't want to watch TV, that doesn't matter.

Also, the second bedroom has beds that are smaller in width than a normal US twin-size (if you separate them from the "queen" size), so it wouldn't be suitable for adults as twins. It would be okay for small kids or someone using it as a queen-size bed. Half a queen size is only about 30" which is 8-9 inches smaller than a twin bed or half a king bed (which is about the size of a twin).

It would be helpful if you stated what your priorities are and how many nights you will stay. What is acceptable for 1-2 nights may not be optimal for a week.

Obviously it is a very attractive space. Beautiful kitchen and bath. But do you plan to use the kitchen? That's what I meant about needing to know your priorities.

770 square feet is not a large apartment, if you are 4 people. You are sharing the full bath. It is rather low-ceilinged, too.

I am not a huge fan of the Left Bank -- not anti, just not wedded to it, as so many N Americans seem to be. So if I were spending the kind of money that you are contemplating and were staying a week, I would stay here instead:

It costs about 2/3 of what you would pay for the other apartment. I love the Palais Royal location, too. Imagine staying in the bulding that once housed Colette!

Thanks for the responses, the low ceilings are my #1 concern as this is a top floor unit. I'm guessing 8 ft ceilings based on photos but not sure how these buildings were constructed.

We would be going in September so I'm not sure how important the AC would be. We would be staying 5 nights.

The apt has 2 bathrooms, one has a shower/sink/wc the other has tub/sink/wc..not sure why 4 people would share 1 bath?

For what it's worth, we're staying in an apartment in September with air conditioning. It wasn't a deal breaker, but it seems like it very well may be nice to have. I know I can't sleep well if I'm too hot.

Maybe I misread the floor plan. The 2nd bath looked so small I assumed it was a 1/2 bath.

RE A/C: Every year the weather is different but my enduring recollection of Paris in September, from various Fall trips over a 20 year period, is of "breaking" weather around mid-month, when suddenly Fall arrives, with rain and chilly winds.

Julia 1: I have not stayed with this company but all my research suggests that customer satisfaction is VERY high, especially with the agent who meets you and with service during the rental.

They have some smaller and more modest places, including some on the Left Bank.

We travel to Europe 2-3 times per year. I am VERY cheap, love a bargain and have been spoiled by great deals on lovely apts and hotels all over Europe (most recently this month, in Italy). Hence I might not normally pay these prices.

However, if I were looking for sthg really nice and special, this is a company I would go to.

We've been going to Paris in Sept. for many years now and sometimes the weather is quite warm. You may not need AC in the BDR but I'll bet you will want a fan.

As a tourist the location of that VRBO apt is great, very convenient. It's close to one of our favorite restaurants on Rue de Conde called "Marco Polo". Yes, it is Italian, but we always go there at least once for a change in food. If this is your first trip to Paris the location is perfect. You will be able to walk to many places and restaurants easily.

tedgale's suggestion at the Palais Royal looks fantastic. It's also in a good location, convenient. Maybe not as lively as the left bank area at night.

We have been staying on Ile St. Louis and use www.guestapartment.com with great success.
