Father daughter trip to Paris - first time - where to stay

Help! I'm overwhelmed with choosing where to stay in Paris late this month. I'm spending 4 days there the last week of this month with my daughter. We are just sightseeing can someone recommend a few hotels that are clean and safe. I don't need anything fancy. I'm not sure about the budget. It's our first time to Paris and maybe the only one - who knows. I don't want a hostel, but I don't can't go crazy. I'd rather spend money eating and doing things than on where I sleep for a few hours. Just clean and safe. Anyone have a suggestion of at least an area or a couple specific places? Please...

I just stayed at the Hotel Kensington. There are many things about it I did not like, but, as they say in real estate, "location, location, location." It was very convenient.

First, do you need 2 separate beds - which can be more costly?

Second - you really do need to give us an idea. Are you trying to keep it to 100 euros per night? 200 euros?

And what amenities are looking for? Do you need a private bath? An elevator? Air conditioning (many budget places will not have the latter).

Suggest you look at eurocheapo.com, venere.com and last minute bookings web site to see what is still available.

One bed would be fine as long as it is a full size or queen. An elevator is a yes. Air conditioning is a yes I would think late July in Paris is hot. I agree location location location.

Please tell us how many euros a night you want to spend. There are thousands of possibilities, but the easiest way to narrow the field is by cost.

Hotel D'Orsay in Paris. This was our hotel on our trip there in 2010.

Big rooms - really big rooms.
Walk to Lourve, Notra Dame.
Across the street from Orsay Museum
One block to metro.
One block to the hop on hop off bus
Walk to where you get the Siene river cruise boats.
Charming hotel with both modern and old world style cage elevators.

I spent 6 months researching where to stay as Paris hotel rooms are notorious for being closet size. Here you get really big rooms plus its the perfect location in the Germain area.
Check their website- rooms probably go for about 200 Euros.

For about 200 euros - 270 a night - you should be able to get a pleasant hotel with private bath AC and elevator in a neighborhood convenient to many sights.

But you haven;t given us a clue as to what you want to spend - so don;t know if that's any help or not.

And do be aware that in France a double bed is a regular double - not a US queen (which they will call a king) or a US king (which they really don't have except in a few very upscale places).

Be careful - many hotels will charge 200 Euros a night but you still get the closet sized room and or quirky bathrooms- that is why it took me 6 months to find one where I was sure the room was large, the bathroom modern and in a great location.
Now if you don't mind the small room and sometimes the quirky plumbing then yes you should have many to choose at that price point.

Most hotels have twin-bedded rooms.
