Paris: Where to stay?
I'm considering a trip to Paris early next summer (first time). My husband and I are in our late 20's, we're not big party people. We are kind of light sleepers. We are wondering what a good area is to stay in! We certainly don't mind walking to places (I actually enjoy walking), but if public transportation is nearby, then that would be fine, too. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Hi tt,
That's about 110E/night. On the low side, but not unrealistic.
You will want a hotel with AC, which might mean having to go to 130E/nite.
Have you entered <Paris hotel> in the "search this forum" box?

Hotel rates start at 30€ in Paris. It all depends on the level of comfort required. I have been mentioning (to people who really want to save money) the modern, air conditioned, satellite TV & modern bathroom equipped Etap Hôtel at metro Laumière recently, which costs 55€ for a double.

We have stayed at Champ du Mars Hotel several times and aways have a quiet comfortable room on the back. Our last stay cost 83 euro per night but it may be a bit higher now. It is walking distance to Eiffel Tower and metro station (Ecole Militaire). This hotel seems to be popular with Americans and needs to be booked well in advance.
