Since you're new to the forum you may not know that we have no idea what the middle of your budget is. Some people have no problem dropping 300-500euro a night for a hotel while others want to stay around 150-200e. So please let us know what your budget is, the time of year you're going and how many people in the room.

Is this your first time in Paris? Have you considered staying on other neighborhoods?

You really don't need to stay nearby the Moulin Rouge just to see the show. In general, that area is not recommended as it's very busy, noisy, and mostly does not have the best atmosphere. I recommend that you stay in the center (1st, 4th-7th) for a firsttime visit.

I've seen the Moulin Rouge show...get ready, as there is all sorts of "opinions" about that show on this board.

I would NOT eat in that area nor would I particularly want to stay in that area. Nearby the Moulin Rouge are many sex shops, cheap take-out places, etc. It is a side of Paris a lot of folks prefer not to know about; some even pretend it doesn't exist!

Hi M,

You don't want to stay or eat near the Pl Pigalle.

Are you sure you want to go to the show?

What's your budget?

I don't agree that you don't want to eat near it. I assume you mean you want to stay nearby for dining, not for the hotel (which I wouldn't). I've eaten near there and know a good restaurant very close, and lots more not too far away (one metro stop or so). It isn't at place Pigalle, anyway, but just to the west of Blanche metro stop.

I guess the closest restaurant I'd recommend is at place de Clichy, just a few blocks west of it. That is Bistro Melrose at 5, place Clichy. You might want to make a reservation if you need to make sure and get to a a show(phone 01-42-93-63-34). They have prix fixe dinners for around 32 euro, which includes wine. My second recommend would be a bit farther, onm rue Clauzel (maybe 4-5 blocks away). that is Auberge et Cie. It has a very nice, pleasant dining room, nice staff and service, and is reasonably priced (a bit more than Melrose, but won't be too bad). They sort of focus on SW France cuisine, but will have something to suit most anyone, like a steak.

I forgot to give you the URL for Auberge et Cie, there is a menu on there and some photos.
