There is a store on rue Bonaparte, in the sixth, between Blvd. St. Germain and rue Jacob that has lovely table cloths, shawls, etc., from India.

The gift shop at the back of the tea room at the Mosquée de Paris has a nice selection of North African items.

yeah, like Chinatown for the CHinese stuff. I don't think there are as many Indians in Paris as other ethnicities, but I'm sure you can find all kinds of ethnic items if you go to the ethnic neighborhoods--Belleville, Goutte d'Or, Barbes Rochechouart, Charonne, Menilmontant, etc.

You can find Indian shops around Gare du Nord in the 10th extending NE to Louis Blanc and La Chappelle metros, and down between Chateau d'Eau and Strasbourg St-Denis metro stops, and northern rue du Fbg St-Denis (sari and jewelry and fabric shops).

Chinatown is in the 13th, go to place d'Italie and walk down ave de Choisy and then over to Ivry. Lots of good restaurants, there, also and things are open on Sunday.

Menilmontant and Goutte d'Or (near Barbes Rochchouart or Chateau Rouges metros) are more North African, it seems to me, but are multi-ethnic. There is a multi-ethnic open-air market between Belleville and Menilmontant metro stops on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Don't know much about ethnic paintings, but there's a nice chain of shops called Kazana (sp?) that sell beautiful ethnic scarves and shawls(that could also be used as throws). There's one on rue St André des Arts in the 6th, one on rue Mouffetard in the 5th, and various others around the city.

You will also find fabulous sari fabric along the rue Faubourg St Denis in the 10th, near the Gare du nord.
