Venice Hotel

I am going on the cruise leving fron Venice on August 27th. We arriving a day before, so I need the hotel for one night. Since we are arriving in the evening, I would not care about location. Can somebody recommend the hotel with clean, large room with a bathroom and A/C for as little money as possible. The closer to the port, the better.

Thank you,
Alex.

Axel- I highly recommend this web site: www.eurocheapo.com see hotel Al Piave, near the San Marco district.
Best of luck

Alex,
We did the same last year. We stayed at (funny name) Canal & Walter. It's about 5 minute walk over 2 small bridges to the P Roma where we caught a taxi to the cruise terminal. We left on August 29 and got them in a soft season - maybe it will hold for you. It was 90 Euro - nice buffet breakast, room was clean with marble floors (beautiful) and good bed but not big, ( had a canal view). 1 flight up - no elevator. If you need the net address, let me know and I'll look it up. It is cheaper if you book direct.

I also have visited Al Piave and found it fine. We've also stayed at Albergo Doni (if you're looking for close to the San Marco area); Albergo Guerrata in the Rialto region.
If you need to be closer to the stazione, then the Adua (041-716184), the Al Gobbo (041-715001) and teh Caprera ([email protected]/041-715271) are all within a short walk to the station.

Ah Leslie, you're a peach! thanks for providing the address and the info of how to find them.
I looked it up (good memories!) for the 29th (our date last year) and it was 79 Euro. WOW. I didn't check Aug 27 - be SURE and change the month to August. This hotel changes prices a lot. I tried to stay there last March for 4 nights, and the price was 150 Euro. (out of our budget) so I did find another one that we were very pleased with. A block off San Marco - some people think it's too busy/crowded there. It worked ok for March though.
I can't say enough about the Hotel W & C. They have a mini-fridge in the room so you can have your "Welcome to Venice" proseco to celebrate! The clerk just asked us if we used anything in the mini-bar. Wish we were staying there again this August!

Hope it works for you too, Sharon.
