Easyjet..is it tuly easy?

Hi there..
I am headed to Venice in May and am taking easyJet out of Stansted London. Has anyone taken this particular airline before? I guess I just need a little reassurance that the plane is bigger than a bread box and if I can carry on a roll on?
Thanks in advance
diva48

Diva,

You'll be fine!

They operate an all-Boeing 737 fleet (although they will be switching to Airbus 320 in the next few years). No free food or seat assignments, but for such a short flight, who cares?

However, they are VERY strict on carry-on luggage. Your roll-on will almost certainly have to be checked.

BTW, did you check BMI from Heathrow? They are quite competitive on this route and are a "full service" airline.

www.flybmi.com

Hope this helps,
Andre

I have not flown them personally but know others who have with no problem. I believe their equipment is actually relatively new. As to carry on luggage, that's another issue. You should go to their website & check specifications for size AND WEIGHT allowed as carry on. It has been posted here that the low cost airlines have become very strict about the weight of carry-ons & will charge hefty premiums if you're over the max.
Finally, I gather you know Stansted is not the most convenient airport to get to for most people.

I have flown with easyjet and it was absolutely fine. You don't get allocated seats, but we have managed to sit together on all flights so far. No food, but you wouldnt notice its absence! As mentioned above, they are normal size planes.

I flew LGW (Gatwick) to AMS (Amsterdam) last month using Easyjet. Absolutely inexpensive, positively no-frills. Like Andre said, it's a short flight so grin and bear it. Go with the mindset of taking a bus - there is basically no rules when boarding. No organized lines, you have to elbow your way to your seat and the flight attendents don't take any crap. They don't even stock the seatbacks with reading material. They come through later and pass out inflight magazines, but recollect them later. And be darn sure your carry-on AND checked bags are under the weight allowances or you'll pay through the nose.

I have flown on Easyjet. They use Boeing 737's, some of them quite new.

They may want to check in a roll on bag. They have a weight limitation (see website). Some agents may not weigh your bag.

Early check in is recommended if you want a particular seat. The 1st 30 passenger board and choose their seats followed by passengers 31-60.

Bring food and water unless you want to buy it on the plane.

do NOT be late though. you need to be at the gate, checked in, half an hour early at least. they WILL leave without you.

Despite all the warnings about being overweight with the luggage, when we flew from London Luton to Nice last year on Easy Jet, we were certainly well over the allowance -- as we were traveling for three months and had a lot of stuff. When the clerk put each of our bags on the scales, she made an audible sound, something like, "oh my!), but in both cases she didn't charge us a thing for the overage.

I just flew easyjet this morning from Liverpool to Belfast, and they made me check my carry-on (anything over 5 kilos, I was told). My carry-on is not a big bag (small athletic bag/hold all). But since I didn't have anything to check, it wasn't a big deal.
