I would siggest you buy a three hour tram ticket. The walk from the train station to the chapel, and from the chapel into central Padua is pretty boring. Tram tickets can be bought from a booth to the right as you exit the station.

Padua where I've been long ago several times is not the most astounding city in general in Italy but like any large regional town its town center is cool - in fall there were roasted chestnuts being sold everywhere. See more than just the famous chapels.

Hi Joe18,
The Scrovegni Chapel is very close to the train station. DH and I also walked from the train station to the town center and back. If you have good feet and legs, walking should be no problem.
The problem is getting into the Scrovegni Chapel! Online reservations were required when we were there. Do check!
One of the oldest taverns is near the town center--you might eat there. It was quite busy when we were in Padua. Home - Caffè pedrocchi
Enjoy and please share how it went.

Chapel and town very walkable from train station; downtown is large and charming; can't make recommendation for food, but do like the locals do, and sip a delicious Aperol Spritz! Glad we can find it here in the States as it's the greatest in warm weather.

The Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua is worth a look too. The saint’s tomb is located there. We happened to visit on his saint’s day and the Basilica was filled with crowds and pagentry.
