16 days until we leave for:
7 nights in Paris
4 nights in Varenna
5 nights in Florence
and
5 nights in Venice.
I just like saying it! Actually, what really counts is we leave in only.....12 WORK days.
Man - does anyone else have trouble getting through a work day leading up to a trip? I have been useless for the past 2 weeks already.

57 days until my first trip to Germany and Austria!! It's a choir trip, so after we've finished singing/yodeling for two weeks, I'm sending everyone else on home while I take the train from Vienna to Venice. Then, it's a Med cruise for another week, followed by a few more days in Venice. I'm turning 50 this year and am celebrating in style!!

Returned mid March from Oxford/Wales/Salisbury/London trip (with students – yay free travel!) Now 1 week until a visit with family in Texas and 2 ½ months until Amsterdam for 2 weeks (never been!)– plan on taking some trips around and outside of the immediate area and into Germany – maybe even a Rhine cruise. Cologne, castles, Frankfurt for some museum time…. Any suggestions? Husband and I both like art, architecture, good food, little charming out-of-the-way-places, medieval or historical villages, countryside walks, little towns.
2009 will be Italy (Florence, Umbria, Venice) in the spring with students (2nd time), and summer into Austria/Switzerland (1st time) for my mother’s 80th. I’ve only begun to plan!

38 days and counting until my oldest sister, a niece, my son and I leave for 2 1/2 weeks in Italy.
Venice for a few days, Florence for a few days, drive all over Tuscany & Umbria for a week and end in Rome for a few days.
Most of the time, I am in one stage or another of planning a trip - I love traveling. Looks like there are a lot of wonderful trips that have been posted here in the last few weeks. I hope you all have a marvelous time.

Bags are packed, heading out tomorrow morning...Portugal and the UK for about 25 days.
Flying UAL from LAX to LHR, connecting to TAP (Air Portugal)to Lisbon...four days in LIsbon, then the Alentejo (Arraiolos, Evora, Marvao), up to the mountains to the town of Belmonte to do some research, across to Obidos and Nazare, and end up in Sintra (all by car)...flying back to London for five days and then about 6 tooling around the Cotswolds and vicinity. First time to Portugal, my last remaining country I have yet to visit in continental Europe. We've been all over the UK and Ireland, but not since '98.
Maybe a very brief report when we return (if I can get my wife to write it).
Happy travels, Fodorites.

Stu t took the words out of my mouth "My bags are packed." I'm ready to go -- in 41 hours -- first to London then to Crete, Santorini, Athens and mainland Greece, Sicily, back to USA via Rome and London, for a total of a month.

Only 5 days left before our 2 wk trip to Northern Italy. Mostly ready.
Fly into Milan and spend day 1 and overnight there--have been in and out of Milan before but this time want to see the Duomo, then to Varenna for Lake Como, a couple days for Bergamo and on to Venice. Been to Venice 5 or 6 times but can't seem to go to Italy without seeing it again!
First trip to Italy was in 2003, and had to go back just 6 months later. Have returned each year since, excepting last year as my daughter needed us to help with her new baby on a work related trip to England. Lovely trip but missed Italy. There are many other places calling but for now, Italy has me tightly in her grip!

tower: you're gonna love Portugal...been there several times, and it is one of my favorite place...going again in November. The Algarve is the beach stuff (sun, tourists, etc) although I think Sargres is worth a trip in it'self, Evora, and the Douro valley are my favs. We are staying a few days near Porto, then on to Viana De Costelo( sp?). enjoy.

9 months, 28 days to our first trip to Istanbul. Now begins the obsessive planning part and the "learning about Istanbul and Turkey" part. I love trip planning and am really excited about seeing Istanbul. We fly on Swiss Air out of BOS. Any helpful hints on lodging, dining, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

2 days until we leave for Munich,Bertchesgaden and Mittenwald for 17 days. We have been saving and I have been doing all of the planning since last September.
I just know that I'm going to forget something even though this is the 6th vacation to Europe. Sure would love to vacation there for 6 months at a time!
