Buon viaggio, ready2travel! I'll be looking for your report when you return.
Flygirl, thanks for the suggestion. I had considered the Lake district, but then reading about Geneva, it sounds wonderful. The Lake district would probably be a more economical way to go this time, though...

Three weeks from today until my mom and I leave for Paris and Rome. I have butterflies in my stomach already just thinking about it.
Now, if only I did not have to clean the house, shop for two weeks' worth of groceries, plan two kids' schedules for two weeks, and lose four more pounds in the meantime, I would feel better about only having three weeks left!

100 days until we leave for 2 weeks in London with side/day trips to Dover/Canterbury, Salisbury/Stonehenge, Chatsworth, Oxford, and the Silverstone Classic Race.
(At Christmas my DH gave me a 30th anniversary trip this summer—he’d pay, I plan! And so I found Fodor’s forum, and it has been a wealth of information beyond my expectations. When I saw this thread on counting down to the departure, I decided I’d wait until it was only 100 days away—and wow! Today’s that day! I am having a blast planning/reading/mapping/checking this forum, but the actual trip will be even better!)
Thanks to all who have had input into what our plan looks like (as of this week, at least!) and to all those in the future who will help me pass these 100 days with travel-planning fun.

Only 35 days till my husband and I leave for 3 1/2 months travelling around Europe. It's our 50th birthday present and we've been planning it for what seems like ages. Have only just found Fodors and am trying to read as much as possible to get ideas from fellow travellers.
We're heading to Dubai first then London, Lakes District, Scotland, Ireland, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy and then finally the Greek Islands for the last 2 weeks. It's a driving holiday and it seems like we'll be fitting heaps in. Hope it isn't too much!! We are stopping for a week here and there to catch up.
Can't wait and now that we're down to counting days, it just seems incredible that it's nearly here.
Thanks for all the ideas I'm getting from you guys.
Hope you all have a fun and safe trip.

GaeandJohn - have a wonderful time, what a dream to spend the summer traveling.
WTnow - all I can say is wow! I started to look at your photos on flickr, they are spectacular.
We are under 40 days from liftoff now.
