Are there any equivalents to Best Buy, Circuit City or even Walmart in France where I can buy a 21" computer monitor? I will be in Paris, Bordeaux and Arcachon and can shop in either, preferably Bordeaux or Arcachon as my need is in Arcachon

FNAC would also work -- they have both a FNAC and Darty in Bordeaux; both are large electronic chains in France. Both carry computer screens. Arcachon is too small for that kind of store chain, I think.

Do hypermarches Carrefour and Auchan have good computer stuff or just minimal or none at all?

I know my local Carrefour when in France has loads of electronics stuff but can't remember computer screens, etc. But if so they are everywhere and Carrefour claims not to be underpriced.

You might want to enter "computer" and "Bordeaux" at www.pagesjaunes.fr

The number one computer store in Paris is Surcouf (www.surcouf.fr). It is owned by the same people who own FNAC (www.fnac.com) -- also a major purveyor of computers. FNAC is all over France, unlike Surcouf.

Larger hypermakets within Carrefour, Auchan or Leclerc chains carry some computer screens, but not a vast range. From what I remember, the prices are competitive but by no means the lowest - which will be online.
