Cheap kitchen items in Paris
Hi everyone,
A while ago I saw a post with the address of a shop that sells really cheap but good quality kitchen utensils in Paris. All of my bookmarks have been deleted and I can't find it
- does anyone know either this shop or others in paris that sell cheap utensils?
Thanks very much!

For some reason, American tourists in Paris love to flock to Dehillerin, in Les Halles, which is originally a wholeseller to the catering industry but has cleverly repositioned itself as a provider for the wannabee gourmet Anglo-Saxon. They have a website: www.e-dehillerin.fr. Otherwise you can go to any Monoprix, they have plenty of kitchen items that are reasonably priced.

There are several shops all over Paris.
The spelling is not correct, but close---
Les Vassillieres. If you can't find it. I have a business card at home and can give you the exact name and locations.
I purchased a cheese plate there for $11 and saw it in a shop at the Bellagio Hotel in LV for $100.00.
It's tiny little shop, but the prices are cheap for those extra ramekins, and it is always jammed with Parisians.

I also purchased some fun items for my kitchen at Vaisselerrie (sp???)...... little spoons for coffee, small pitchers for milk/cream like the cafes, and other small items that I can't remember! The stores are chockful of stuff we all "need!"
Enjoy!

Hi. I am new to the Fodor's board, but not to Paris!
Near Dehillerin, just up the block in fact, are 3 wonderful kitchen stores. A. Simon is my favorite, and MORA is very good too. I can't remember the name of the other one at the moment, but they converge on a corner. If I were home I could give you the address. Will try to post that later. I think perhaps these might be the ones you are thinking of. The Vasselleries are fun to shop in as well.
Also, the flea market in Vanves sometimes has great vintage kitchen items. I have a wonderful old enamel coated tin hook, with knobs for dish towels, hand towels etc. Each little knob says what type of towel it should be used for. Mains, vassaille, etc. These were quite popular a long time ago. Also, lovely vintage salt cellars etc.

I hope it's alright to join this thresd with a question...Does this shop sell plastic or mellamine wear and thermoses etc? We will be arriving in Paris in April and then heading off in a lease car. We would like to have a bit of gear with us but not carry it all the way from Australia. We could then toss it or pass it on the someone else. In Oz we have $2 shops ...does Paris have anything like that?
Sorry to but in.

So, were all those Japanese, Chinese and Korean women who mobbed Dehillerin when we stopped by Anglo-Saxons in disguise?

They have a website and will ship worldwide, but of course it is more fun to be there. Will check it out in September.
