Sorry Steph - I have not stayed there, but I cannot think of a better location in all of Berlin.

OK, well I'm back from Berlin and loved the City Hotel am Gendarmenmarkt. The location is absolutely perfect. It's in Mitte which is in the east and within walking distance of all the sites. There is an U-bahn station one block away and several restaurants/cafes near by. The rooms are average size, by European standards, but the beds are comfortable and the bathroom very large. The staff was very friendly and helpful and there is a Lowenbrau restaurant below the hotel where you can sit outside and enjoy dinner and beer. The breakfast buffet was nice with a good selection of cheese, meats, musli, eggs, breads, jams, and juices. I'd definitely return to this hotel on my next trip to Berlin!

Hi, Steph SEA:

I was very interested in your views on this hotel. I'm thinking of visiting Berlin either this summer or in the Fall. Can you tell the price of an average double?

It was 112 Euro on the weekend and 122 Euro during the week. We got these rates by booking online through their website. We were quoted 143 when directly emailing the hotel. Here's their website:
