Cheapest hotels in Paris
Hello friends. In two days I'm gonna visit Paris. Does somebody know some cheap hotels within zone 2 of the metro? I mean less than 50 euro. What is your experience with the hotels of the chain Formule1? (www.hotelsformule1) Thanks to all of you!

I recommend you forget about Formule1 hotels - they are geared more for highway travelers. There are budget hotels right in Paris that can be had for your rate of $50 for a single. Try a search for 'budget' hotel, too.
The EuroCheapo site lists several, and try the lists on www.jack-travel.com (created by a Belgian guy).
I think others have mentioned Hotel Delhy, which is a 1-star, for being a decent place to stay.
A review on TripAdvisor: "The Delhy's Hotel is perfect for budget travellers. It is in an excellent location in the Latin Quarter, close to Notre Dame. The rooms are simple and clean. If you choose a room with shared facilities, there are bathrooms on each floor, but there is only one shower on the first floor near the kitchen. Some rooms have a private bathroom and shower. Expect the hotel manager to be very quirky, but friendly."
Other positive reviews can be found on www.paris.org . . .
22, Rue De L'hirondelle Paris 75006 France
Tel: +33 1 43265825 21 Rooms
Price: $US 37 to $US 78 (usually the lowest price is for a single)

Last summer I stayed at Hotel les Argonautes on rue de la Huechette, less than a full block away from Notre Dame and on a pedestrian only street. The location was WONDERFUL, and the hotel was charming and clean. All rooms have a private shower, though I think most of the doubles have private w/c and bath. I paid about 35euro for a single.
Take a look for the Hotel on eurocheapo.com under hotels in the Latin Quarter.
Good luck!

I don't even know if they have Formule 1 hotels in Paris, but there are plenty of other options. You'll need a 1* hotel at that rate -- HOtel Telemacque in the 14th, Hotel Tiquetonne in the 4th, HOtel Port Royal on the border of the 5th/13th and Delhy's in the 6th are the 1* hotels I've seen commented on most favorably. Eurocheapo is a good idea, some of those might be in there, also.

Check out Hotel Studia on St Germain....no website, but you should be able to get phone number from LesPagesJeune....Have been there to collect good friends who have stayed with the same manager for many years...
They are "discriminating" travelers, but like to save $$ for other stuff, so I'm happy to recommend it based on their feedback. Seemed like a fine place to me, I was there last June.
Best wishes, Dave

Thanks to all of you ! I returned today from Paris. I stayed in hotel "Port de Saint Ouen" of the chain Formule1. Small clean room with sink, TV and double bed for 35 euro. That is what I looked for. There was WC and shower on each floor. I'm verry satisfied for that price. The transport to downtown is perfect. The nearest station of metro is Pt de St Ouen ( ¹13), zone 2 and for 10 min I was at the heart of Paris! If you have some questions, go ahed! I had no problems with carte Orange-the best price for travellers.
