latin quarter hotels

I am taking my family (4) to Paris end of May--any recommendations for hotels 2-3 star--any quaint accommodations to experience something other than American hotels.thanks in advance

Try the Claude Bernard - they have nice rooms, good location, A/C and an elevator. If you want to all stay in one room (depending on the ages of the travellers), they have a quad room.

Hotel des Grandes Ecoles--as one guidebook put it, "a delightful oasis" in the heart of Paris.

Stu, my FAVORITE hotel in Paris is the Hôtel Degrés de Nôtre Dame with rooms that have some views of Nôtre Dame. I wrote about it fully here:

My family and I stayed at the Abbatial St. Germain that's in the Latin Quarter but just a couple of blocks from the Seine one way and a few blocks from St. Germain the other. You can request either a room at the 5th or 6th floors which has views of the tip of the Pantheon and Notre Dame.

I've stayed at the Abbatial St.Germain and was very satisfied. No great view from my room, but it was one of the quietest I've had in Paris, and is in a good location. The Grand Degres is also in a good location but has no elevator, which may be a problem for some.
One of my favorites in the 5th is the Hotel de Notre Dame on Rue Maitre Albert.
Check out the websites for location and amenities.

If you'd like the option of being able to cook, try the Hotel Residence Henri IV (www.residencehenri4.com). There is a good discount if you book on the Internet.

Do you want a quad room or 2 doubles?

My favorite hotel in the 5th is the Select Hotel on Place de la Sorbonne.

The location is perfect and the staff is wonderful.
