Champs de Mars hotel?

Has anyone stayed at this hotel and would you recommend it? Is it close enough to places of interest or too out of the way? How are the rooms? Is it pretty quiet?

It's mentioned on this board about every other day - if you type "champs de mars and hotel" in the text box, you'll get over a hundred threads. Most consider it good value for money, though the fact that rooms are small is nearly always mentioned.

I have not stayed at this hotel, although a friend did. She and her husband really enjoyed the Champ de Mars which she referred to as a charming hotel. Yet the neighborhood was a bit dull for them.

I personally would go absolutely bonkers in that newighborhood; the Marais is more central and much more diverse and interesting for my taste. Though there are many who really like this area; really depends on your personality.

We stayed at the champs de mars in 1999. We would go back again. They were helpful with any directions, reservations etc. In fact we emailed them before our arrival and they made reservations for us at the Eifel tower for dinner. We were there 3 nights at times we thought one gentleman on the desk was a little aloof, but still he responded to questions and directions.
Now when we really had a problem (car battery dead on rental car just before we went to airport in parking lot 5 blocks or so away) he really came through.
He argued with the rental company for us, made some suggestions that ultimately did get the car running, even helped load the car when we got back. Did not want his picture taken but almost smiled when we left.
We had two rooms, one in the back was more quiet than the front. Rue Cler is right there for shopping for picnics and restaurants. The Metro is a block or so away to catch for various places. We did walk to the Eifel Tower from there. We took a bus to get to the Arc but some walked there too. Rooms are small but tasteful.
Sometimes people are just more reserved, but I would not hesitate to go back this fall (we are planning another trip)!
I am trying to email this hotel for reservations, but I am not getting any response. Do you think it is too far in advance (Sept 25th)? All I have is an email address. Thanks

Thanks Renee, that's where I go the email address. Do you think I should keep trying with the email?

Hi
Earlier this month I was trying to email them without success for late Seot. So I called. She said to call back in April.
