Here's a link to a site with inexpensive private B&B accommodations in Antwerp:

www.gastenkamersantwerpen.be/public/en/addresses/index.html

I stayed with the Kuchenbeckers a couple of years ago - good location, simple but comfortable digs, nice breakfast, nice family.

I've posted this before about the Schintgen in Luxembourg City, but here it goes again:

I stayed at the Hotel Schintgen for one night in early spring of '98. Enjoyed Luxembourg City so much that I returned for 2 nights in May of '01. Stayed at the Hotel Schintgen again. I paid around 75USD a night in '01.

It's a nice, clean hotel in a great location. Had a small, fifth floor room with a view towards the valley that cuts through the center of Luxembourg. The gentleman who wrote the Luxembourg national anthem was born many years ago in the building. I believe it had the tiniest bathroom I've ever been in. If I moved my hips more than two inches I touched the wall or the sink through the shower curtain. I didn't mind. I'm more interested in seeing a city than staying in a hotel room.

The Schintgen is right across the street from the Hotel Grand Cravat that is the grand, old dame hotel for the city. I'd read that members of the Luxembourg parliament will meet there for drinks. Can't say as I'd recognize any of them, but I sure did enjoy drinking in the pleasant bar and eating in the Cravat's excellent restaurant.

Easy walking distance from the hotel was the main cathedral, the prime minister's residence and the ancient fortified battlements. If your legs are up for it do the "Wenceslas Walk: 1,000 years in 100 minutes." It was worthwhile to see the sites along the way and the museum and churches in the valley. If you are there at the right time of the year you can tour the royal residence, unfortunately I wasn't.

I found them first by wandering Lux City in Feb. of '98. When I returned for Spring of '01 all I could find was a telephone & fax numbers. I ended up faxing them directly to make my reservation.

Searching google I did find this site: www.atel-hotels.com/gb/hotel_reservation/luxembourg/luxembourg/Fiche_hotel-267.php

You may have to piece the URL back together. How far out our you checking? Sometimes the smaller hotels don't seem to take reservations much more than 3 months in advance. This site did let me check a date for April.

Good luck and enjoy Luxembourg. It's a great city with a lot to do and not completely overrun with tourists.

Thanks again Indy! I am looking for a double room circa April 19 and 20 (Sa and Su). I did find the site you mentioned and it indicated that no rooms were available for those dates. I've historically found for other hotels that websites don't always have accurate info. on vacancies and I was hoping that'd be the case here. I guess I'm going to have to call..was hoping to save some $s on the project, if possible though.
