In our 20 nights in France, Tracy and I had 20 good to great meals (not a loser in the bunch). A few of the restaurants were so good, we decided they warranted a write-up of their own. Plus it will cut down on the length of some of the trip report days.

On our second night in Beaune, we (along with friends Greg and Gloria) sat down for a delicious dinner at Le Bacchus. This small restaurant serves up some big dishes, including Le Burger, which has to be seen to be believed. And our dessert…Ooh La La! If you ever visit Beaune, be sure to make advance reservations for Le Bacchus. Check out our first great restaurant experience on our recent trip below.

You find a good number of Charolaise cattle in Texas, but I wouldn't want to have them up north--hard to find in the snow. That does look like an interesting burger.

Shoot from the side to get a more interesting photo of the dish...not holding the camera (or in our case iPhone) hovering over the dish. jamikins, bikerscott and Andrew are, in my opinion,a few of the best photographers on the Board. It would be interesting to get their input, or any other photographer. Tracy takes much better photos than me (I blame the wine).

My question also, Coquelicot! Yums is right, maitaitom. Looking forward to your TR.

Just got the e-mail for the blog. Thank goodness I have a terrible cold and no appetite… but the photos are gorgeous. Am looking forward to more reports. (And will eat before I read them.)

We haven't have dinner yet. . .and WOW! Your photos have us salivating. Beef Bourguinon is one of our faves in France. That burger is ginormous! And looks delicious.

We had lunch only in Beaune. But Bacchus, the god of wine, seems to have influenced all of us in Burgundy.

Alas Hamburgers are not for a fine dinner of a guy raised following the French etiquette for food.

Last time in the region we went to la Cabotte in Nuits st Georges. Had a spectacular porc iberique and we managed to find acceptable wine.

Oh dear, Tom, I am afraid with that photo of the burger you have hooked me into making Beaune a must do stop on our next trip. I would eat cardboard if it had Epoisses on it, and substituting that for cheddar, is a stroke of French genius, IMHO.

Beaune is on our list for next July.

Christina, thanks. We found that to be more prevalent on this trip, too. The few places we booked on Facebook all responded within 24 hours (sometimes within minutes) or so to my inquiry.
