I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get some brochures on certain areas. Specifically, Rome, Amalfi Coast, Pisa, Florence, Venice, and Tuscany/Umbria. Thank you for any help!

Why do you want brochures? I've found much better information (and pictures) on the internet than in any brochures I've ever seen. Just google the name of the town and you'll get their chamber of commerce (or equivalent) plus many other sites with more useful information than you can sort through.

I received some great packages when preparing for our trip to Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Combined with the information I found online we had a wealth of things to choose from.

The internet is a great resource but it can actually be time-consuming - so many non-user-friendly websites, espec. if there isn't any English translation, and just trying all the links to see if the site has what you are seeking.

I use the internet for trip planning, but I love getting packages in the mail from the tourist offices... It is more comfortable to sit in my armchair with my coffee or wine and peruse those brochures. Usually there is a map, maybe some coupons, and that sort of thing that I can take with me and be ready to explore upon arrival.

What a coincidence about brochures. I just got back from the Italian tourist office in New York city which is right down the block from my office. I had to wait on line to get a pass and then went up to the office. They had a rack of Tour brochures from Perillo etc. and another table with brochures of just regions of Italy many of them obscure. I remember when that office had rows and rows of brochures from the cities. I asked for info on the Dolomites not even Cortina which is what I really want and they had nothing. Next question was about Venice and some brochures and some guides. I got a decent street map of Venice and not a single brochure or guide of the city. Ahhhh the old days. The woman said they do not get anything specific about a city anymore only regions. It's sad.

frankdaddy, I've been to that office a couple times. Several years ago it was great -- lots of information. But last year when I was specifically looking for information on Ischia, they had nothing. What I really found out was that they could book tours for me, or book hotels, but had little information about self-travel in Italy. In other words, they are now a travel agency.

Thats too bad as yes the Italian Tourism Office use to have tons of brochures and info.

I just looked on the Venice Airport site (www.veniceairport.it). You may find info you desire. Click on Tourist Information (left hand side of screen). Go there and then click on the UK flag, upper right hand corner of screen.

You will consequently see a lot of websites including Dolomites, skiing etc as well as for Venice and other places.

One more point on this. I just came home from work and received two envelopes from ski area that were a little remote which I ordered on the internet. The information was very nice and very informative but not exactly the area I was traveling to. So the answer is, to google the area you are looking for and see if they have the ability to send you some info.
