Tiamo or Harbor Isl.?

I have recently returned from Belize and I am finding myself wanting a little more adventure but I don't want to give up service.

Trying to plan the big 50 for my wife and have been tossing around Tiamo and Harbor Island(Pink Sands/Coral Sands).

I appreciate any information or feedback!

JohnB - We had our honeymoon at Tiamo 3 years ago and it was a wonderful spot. Looks like they've added a couple of cottages since but esssentially the same.

I, too, seek off-the-beaten path destinations, but don't want to rough it too much. Tiamo is on my short list, as well as Kamalame Cay (Andros). I have also visited Belize, both land-based and on a sailing charter.

My current favorite destination is Cat Island -- we stay at Fernandez Bay Village. It's kind of rustic chic, with lots of water-based activities and opportunities for exploration. The resort is quite civilized, yet quite far from civilization. I love staying in Shane Shack, which is a thatched roof stone cottage right on the most beautiful beach you can ask for. You can read my trip reports at www.homestead.com/islandtime/MainPage1.html.

I have been to Harbor Island a few times and absolutely love it. It is extremely peaceful and laid back with amazing beaches. There are some decent restaurants, but there is not a lot of activities or nightlife on the island. (A few fun nightspots) You can take the water taxi to Eleuthera for amazing snorkeling. Pink Sands hotel is beautiful-- I would highly recommend it as well. You can easily get around the island on foot or rent a golf cart. If you want a very peaceful, uncrowded spot, H.I is perfect. I have never been to Tiamo, but love Harbor Island.
