Is there such a place?

My husband and I are looking to go the Caribbean and we are having a hard time finding a place that meets both of our requiments. What we are looking for is a place that has wonderful diving for my husband and beautiful white sandy beaches with nice water to swim in. It would also be a nice perk if the island had some places for me to do some site seeing and shopping while my husband is off diving. We have already been to the Bahamas and several places in Mexico. Any suggestions? Is there such a place? Thanks

Sounds like Grand Cayman fits the bill.

Definitely Grand Cayman. Bonaire is great for diving, but the beaches and shopping are better on Grand Cayman. Really no sightseeing in the Caribbean.

It's hard to find EXCELLENT diving and EXCELLENT shopping. Cayman has EXCELLENT diving and IMO ok shopping. I'm sure others will agree that St. Thomas and St. Martin are much better deals, but then again...they are not known for diving. You will have plenty to do in Cayman if your husband is diving.

Yet another voice for GC - The diving is excellent, seven mile beach is superb, there are great restaurants and we actually found decent shopping in Georgetown (much more pleasant when there are no cruise ships are in port). Also, it is extremely safe and you should feel very comfortable exploring on your own while the hubby is diving.

If you wnat to stay at a hortel/resort, definitely the Westin.

But I would recommend a condo. We stayed at Villas of the Galleon for our honeymoon (and got married on the ebach there). Great location right next to the Westin.

Also, Plantana and Lacovia are nice....

For diving, we highly recommend Dnny Kupkowski at Off the Wall Divers. he will pick you up at your hotel/condo.

rent the villa we always rent: private secluded, private beach, yet if you want to explore, you can. www.maidenplum.com
only 175/nite off season and you are RIGHT on a gorgeous private beach.

Ocean Frontiers is the best dive operation on the island.

Where ever you stay be sure to go to Rum point, snorkel out PAST the dock about 30 yards - it is very shallow, no more than 8-15 feet in places, and you'll see the most amazing things, rays, turtles, eels, lobsters, schools of squid... not to mention lovely coral. Just make sure not to stand on or kick the coral with your fins or it'll die (turn white).
