How does it work if you want to bring liquor home from the USVI??
Since you can't bring liquids on board the plane any longer how do you bring liquor home with you from St Thomas??
Do you now have to buy all liquor at the airport after you pass thru the security gate??
We used to shop in Charlotte Amalie and they would box it up and ship it to the airport for us to pick up when we got there.
Now what's the procedure? Anybody know?
Thanks.
Debbie

Or, if you purchase your liquor at the airport AFTER you clear the security area, then you can just bring it on the plane. However, if you have to make a connection in the US before you get to your destination, then you'll have to place the liquor in your checked luggage once you clear customs.

Thanks for your replies.I usually go to AHRiise and I'm wondering if I'll still get the same great prices at the airport in the stores past security?
I would rather carry my bottles on than checking them on as luggage and chance having them broke.

We have put our liquor in our checked-in baggage umpteen times - because we have to.
We roll each bottle in T-shirts and pack them in the center of case/bag. Not at the top, not at the sides, but right in the middle. Just make sure the bag is full if it's a duffel bag.
Never had a single breakage in our 20+ years of travelling.
Whenever we pass thru JFK from LHR, we open our bags after picking them up in baggage claim and put our liquor in them. Then closed them up, go thru customs and drop them off outside customs for the connecting flight.

Ron Thanks for the heads up.I'd hate to get past security and realize there were no liquor stores to be found.
Then I have no choice but to buy in Charlotte Amalie like I normally do and pack them really, really well.
I'll just keep my fingers crossed all goes well.
