Grand Cayman Bed and Breakfast?

Hi Fodorites!

My wife and I are looking to travel to the Grand Cayman Islands during April. Two b&b's have caught my eye - Shangri La and Annie's Place. Does anyone have any information about these places? There really isn't that much written up about either on the internet, except for tripadvisor ratings, which are very good for both. Any information about local neighborhoods, safety, comforts, would be great...

Shangri La has a room for 170 USD + 10% and Annie's Place has a room for 140 USD + 16%.

Thanks for any help!

wanted to also suggest checking out vrbo.com

You may be able to rent a nice condo for similar price.

Good luck.

I agree a condo out at Cayman Kai may be a better opinion at the same price and it may have a nice small kitchen for breakfast and some lunches but you'll need a rental car and they are not inexpensive on GC.

Yes, I've checked - Shangri La is still available as George has been replying to my email messages.

Thanks for the suggestion about VRBO - I didn't find anything in the same neighborhoods that were even close to 140 or 170 a night.

Does anyone have any experience with either Annie's Place or Shangri La?

Thanks again!

I have seen trip reports about both. They seem to be just as they are represented on the net. You could stay at Annie's and not rent a car (walking distance to SMB). You need a car at Shangri-La as it is on a lake in the middle of West Bay district. Safety would not be a concern to me anywhere on the island.

Thanks for your reply, Cayman Sue. The possibility of not renting a car at Annie's intrigues me greatly. Is there really enough to do during a six night trip near Annie's without a car?

Can you walk to restaraunts? Seven Mile Beach? Do you know about how much a taxi from the airport would be?

I can't find 282 Andrew Drive (The location for Annie's) on googlemaps or googleearth.

Thanks so much for your help so far!
