Ingonish, Cape Breton Lodging

My husband are trying to find a charming and very comfortable place to stay in Ingonish or Ingonish Beach (is there much of a difference?) in September to play some golf. Any suggestions other than the Keltic lodge.
Any really good restaurants pricey or otherwise? We are looking for comfort and good seafood and good golf.

Hi, Delores! I saw your prior post about "good food/lodging/golf" & Keltic.
Stay @ Keltic. However, make sure that you get a room in the "Main Lodge". Request one of the recently renovated rooms w/ hardwood floors. Under no circumstances shd. you let anyone
talk you into staying @ the "Inn" @ Keltic b/c IMHO the place shd. be razed! Golf @ "The Highlands" is spectacular! Food @ Keltic was vey good when I was last there (August, 2000) Have stayed there many times over the years.
Hope this helps!
Susan

Why is the Inn at Keltic so bad? Please state why you think it is bad.. We tried to get into the main lodge way back in January and it has been booked since then. We are staying at the Inn and I'm really disappointed to hear such a statement "it should be razed". Please let me know why it is so bad...

I actually stayed at the Inn at Keltic last summer. My husband , two small children and I stayed in a king room there. It was actually very nice. The furniture was all new and very nice compared to what I hear used to be there. The staff and food were outstanding as well. I don't believe it's as bad as you have been led to believe. It's not the Main Lodge, where most people request but it certainly shouldn't be burned!!
Thanks Dorothy! I'm so glad to hear that. I was worried it was an awful place. I'm glad to hear your opinion. We have two children 8 and 12. The rooms are the lodge do not accomodate 4 persons. Thanks for answering.

we just stayed at Inn at Keltic - it was wonderful, esp. the rooms with oceanview, a very short and pretty walk to the main lodge for meals, a great location - this resort can't be beat! I don't agree with posters on the Inn - it's quite nice.

The Main Lodge is charming, historically signifigant and if you get one of the recently renovated rooms...absolutely beautiful! The Inn is basic. Very basic. Even w/ the "new furniture". It reminds me of basic ski hill accomodations.

Dear Susan,
Thanks for the tip on Keltic Lodge. After some deliberation and the fact we could not get the accommodations we desired at the Keltic Lodge, we opted for a new place - Lantern Hill & Hollow in Ingonish right on the ocean. It has a few cottages which sound charming and a couple of B&B rooms.
Thanks again for the information.
D

I recommend the Castle Rock Inn at Ingonish. The food is fabulous! We had the best meal of our entire trip there! You can get a meal package or a golf package. We stayed there in August and loved it - the view is the best part! Check out www.ingonish.com/castlerock
