BAK and other Toronto Helpers: Hotel options near subway to/from airport?
This is a follow-up to my earlier post re: which hotel to stay at during a 24 hour layover. . . My husband and I were originally thinking downtown and now we are rethinking. We need a hotel with suites so that the baby can sleep in one room and we can be somewhat awake in the other portion of the room (e.g., tv on, able to talk, etc.)
Seems as if most hotels with suite options are on the outskirts of the city. So, I'm thinking we should find a hotel that offers a suite but is close to the subway so we can easily use public transportation to get to/from the airport and to/from downtown.
What hotel might fit the bill of being near a subway stop that could be an easy access/transfer point to the line that goes to the airport?
Thanks for continued help!
-Kellie

Hi Kellie,
The airport shuttle runs often between the airport and several of the downtown hotels and with a baby, that might be an option for you too.
See torontoairportexpress.com
The roundtrip adult fare is about $28.
Though the shuttle doesn't have a stop at Cambridge Suites, the Sheraton Centre stop is reasonably close...less than half a mile.
The Sheraton Centre does offer suites at $289/night so that's another property for you to consider if your little one needs more quiet at night. I guess I'd offset convenience and time with cost.
Hope that helps.

See if you can find a Choice Hotels web site, and see what they'd got to offer in central Toronto with "Suites" inthe name. Comfort Suites, for instance.
The Cambridge is a very good place, by the way.
There are several ways of getting from the airport to the downtown by public -- cheap -- transportation.
I use the "Rocket" bus from the Kipling subway station to the airport. It stops at all three terminals at the airport, and is one fare from downtown.
The subway along Bloor goes past the Old Mill Hotel, which is right at the Old Mill subway stop, and there will be suites at the Old Mill Hotel, although its not one of those bargain suites-only places.
It's only you that knows the baby -- my kids slept well in regular hotel rooms for years while we had the TV on.
And again, budget makes a big difference. There's a lot to be said for renting car if you're going to be somewhere other than right downtown, too.
There's another bus that leaves the airport and goes along Lawrence Avenue and interescts with the subway, but i can't think of a good reason to take that one.
And there are several Rocket buses, so when you head back to the airport, make sure you are on the Rocket to the airport, not the Rocket to Humber College.
