Tickets purchased on AirAsia!
I did get the "extra", pre-reserving the seats at @ $3/each, but it wasn't really a big deal. I know, all those extras do add up, but it still ended up being less than $50/ticket. Not a bad deal.

@Hanuman -- I had to really think about it since I sure consider you such an expert on all things Thai. The check in can be a bit disorganized, but the seating and flights were just fine.
@progol - we haven't booked our intra Thai flights yet. Mainly because our Burma trip is still waiting to be be finalized by the TA. But with your threads, you've got me thinking, maybe I should move ahead and book in Thailand. Even if we have to make a change, as u point out, they aren't expensive.

Yestravel, if you're still waiting for confirmation, I'd wait to book. I'm entering a busy work period and I wanted to get as much settled as I could before I become too busy to focus on the details. I suspect you have more than enough time to schedule flights in the next few months.

I gather that final arrangements in Burma aren't made until a few months before departure due to changes in prices/rates. I certainly don't want to wait that long to book internal air in Thailand. We're off next week for close to 2 months, so may do it before we take off.

Last summer I spent 12 days in Thailand after a work related workshop in South Korea. I started in Bangkok and only spend 1 full day and the next morning in the city. Yes there is so much to do but I personally found Bangkok a bit to fast paced for me. Having said that though, I would recommend a little more time there. Anyway I finished the trip in Chiang Mai and booked a flight last minute to Bangkok via Bangkok Air and the flight was only 67 bucks. Quick and cheap! I highly recommend.
