"OH and did I mention that we have FOUR balconies, and they look down over the oft talked about Sky Bar, and yes a river view."

Sue, Sky Bar is on the 64th floor and is the very top of the building. I don't think you are looking down on it... Is there yet another outdoor bar? Maybe it's at the Breeze restaurant located on about the 50th floor?

Anyway, it sounds lovely!

You are probably right Carol. It didn't even occur to me that this was a different restaurant. I expect it is Breeze, which is also outside, with a pretty fabulous view.

Smeagol:Glad Emporium Suites worked out for you. I was wondering if it had, as I remember you posting that you were to stay there. It's been my permanent home away from home since 2005. Happy Travels!

Maybe I'll try Emporium for a few nights on my return trip to BKK in April. I have my plane ticket but have not yet booked Adelphi, so I could change my mind (for part of the trip only).

Bob, if you get Emporium, please shout out ASAP. I'll have a look at that

Ladies... take a look at the brand new Kempinski serviced apartment - "Kempinski Residences Siam". Right next to the Paragon Mall, brand new but I'm not sure if they do short term rental.

Bob is remiss in not letting you all know the crazy rate we got was the Pan pacific on soi 55 Sku. Serviced apt all in for 2300 bht. We are looking for ward to it. At that rate it is too bad it is only for 1 night, but it will give us a chance to expierence it.

K, thanks for the update. I just tried to look at Pan Pacific but the site is getting 'stuck' in downloading. I gave up on it for now. Soi 55.. is that by Thong Lor?

sorry... interestingly if you try to book pan pacific from their site it will not take any res for less than 30 days...

pan pacific is a good chain, but i think based on the 30 day rate this may not be the callibar of say an emporium, marriott or chatrium, but we will see...

as karen says, its perfect for our one night stay and there are some really good restaurants and shops on that street to explore... certainly the room can't be any worse than the room we viewed at the airport novotel which was priced at $155.
