As Usnr says, either the laundry 'at' your hotel will be reaonably priced ( in general ower price for room = lower laundy prices ), or if iy's pricey there are laundries everywhere, laundromats are not amlocal thing, small laundries are very popular everywhere, a washing machine runs at the cost of 2 to 3 months salary for average person hence laundrys are very popular, they will be away from main streets but usually soun any side street ( soi ) you will see plenty. But hotel laundry charges at and 3 star or less rank/ratewise place will be cheap anyhow.

we stayed at tamarind village and there
were laundries on each side of us. one was run by blind and handicapped people so we used it.
we ended up with many items that did not belong to us and we lost one shirt.
check your package as soon as you get it
so they can track down any misplaced items. very cheap and fast service

Hi austine:
Just to let you know the others are right that you can find laundry shops absolutely everywhere in Chiang Mai. Just returned this week and we had our laundry done at a little hole in the wall shop in Chiang Mai for 30 baht a kg which included ironing. In at 9 ready at 5 pm. All nice and clean and we checked our items off on a list before we left the shop to make sure we had everything. Great service. Prices ranged from 30 - 80 baht per kg.depending on the shop. Side street shops were cheaper than those in the main shopping street. Some included ironing others did not, others just charged per piece which gets a bit pricey.
regards,
