GREATEST DISAPOINTMENT from HK Disneyland
GREATEST DISAPOINTMENT from HK Disneyland even before we even stepped in. Firstly,
with regards to their Reservation system, they charged my wife's (MS Au Soo Leng) credit card 3 times! Confirmation nos. 52KCS, F2KCS & K2KCS. Secondly, when my wife called up Disneyland's reservations, she brought up the issue and instead of getting a polite response, she over heard the reservation officers complaining in cantonese saying
quot;Ho Ma Fun" meaning very troublesome or being a nuisence. She was appalled by the remarks made in the background. Thirdly, she was told that she was'nt entilted the 20% discount as the reservation was done online and not over the phone. There was no such indication on the Disneyland Hotel website that discounts were only given to who make through the phone! Fourthly, Instead of solving the issues we were facing and responding to our eagerness to stay at the HK Disneyland Hotel, the officer redirected her to book the Hollywood Hotel instead (confirmation code: MVRCG)and told her to cancel the Dsneyland Hotel bookings! My's wife's birthday is on 6 Dec and we were really looking forward to a magical moment but this incident has already left a bad aftertaste. I will be posting this bad experience in Singapore's and other Asia Travel Blogs and Travel agencies as a testament to the already bad press that Hong Kong Disneyland has already recieved in Asia.

They are so arrogant it's almost funny. When the hotel opened, there isn't even any online reserations. Emails weren't replied.
This park is set up to for one type of visitors only, in my opinion. Mainlanders who can't visit the other Disney parks.
For others, there's really no reason to visit.
No wonder visitor count is way under expectation, and now they're trying to get the HK Government to put more money to expand the park.

I haven't been on Fodor's since my HK Disneyland trip, but it went well for us. Don't get me wrong I do have some complaints, but in terms of the service, the staff was overall very nice. I don't recall anyone being rude to us (however I don't speak Cantonese either). They even brought a cute homemade gift to our room upon check-in cause it was my daughter's birthday. I plan to go to other Disney parks in the future to see how they compare. I'm sorry they gave you a hard time.

Sounds like Travelbuug has a hate Disney agenda with his first ever post.
We were in HK Disney in April and although it is the smallest Disney venue we have been to(we've been to them all) we found the service good, the workers friendly and helpful.
The ride attendants were especially friendly and eager to help. The actual rides and the entertainment level are what still lacks in this park.
It needs time to grow into a typical Disney venue as they all do.
Aloha!

I see no reason for this type of attitude simply because this is the poster's first post on this forum. Many people simply lurk with the intent of learning, and occasionally might warn others when they have had a bad experience. Was the poster expected to schmooze for months in anticipation of eventually posting a bad experience?
I have seen this type of response several times, usually regarding advertising, and such warnings are sometimes helpful. Not in this case. Because you might have had a good experience with Disneyland does not mean that a complainer has a "hate Disney agenda". And what kind of free time does someone have that he can go look up how many posts a person has made in the past? Wow, I envy you!

Les- it took me four seconds to see that you've posted 73 times. not exactly a day killler.
I also thought it was weird the way that the OP wrote this- giving credit card names, reservation numbers, etc.
I'm happy to recieve the warning, but it is an odd first post.

Les,
"Because you might have had a good experience with Disneyland does not mean that a complainer has a "hate Disney agenda""
How the heck do you know? I just gave my opinion because I have been there. Have you?
The OP writes " I will be posting this bad experience in Singapore's and other Asia Travel Blogs and Travel agencies as a testament to the already bad press that Hong Kong Disneyland has already received in Asia".
Sounds like an agenda to me.
Aaaaaand it only takes one second to click on someones name to find out they only have one post so it takes no time at all. Why don't you either give us some useful information about HK Disney or go play in the freeway with your buddy Travelbuug somewhere.

hawaiiantraveler,
I don't understand your animosity.
What I said:
"Because you might have had a good experience with Disneyland does not mean that a complainer has a "hate Disney agenda"
Your response:
"How the heck do you know? I just gave my opinion because I have been there."
Can you see my confusion? You said that you had a good experience. You've been there - I believe you. The OP said that he had a bad experience. He's been there - I believe him. That's "how the heck" I know - you guys told me!
I would question "how the heck" you know that the OP has a hate agenda with Disneyland? Having a bad experience, and posting the same, does not automatically constitute a hate agenda. Posting a bad experience on the first posting also does not automatically constitute a hate agenda.
rkkwan essentially agreed with the OP re. Disneyland, yet because he's a frequent poster and we all know that he has no personal agenda, you let it slide. Can't you afford the OP the same courtesy?

les,
Are you trying to pick a fight? I made one statement and you seemed to take it very personally.
In answer to your questions, no I never trust the opinion of a first time poster and
Of course we all trust the opinions of rkkwan, he is one of the most helpful and trust worthy contributors on this site. That is why no one is questioning his statement. Much more than I can say for your statements which have nothing to do with HK Disney information and all to do with disliking what I said.
Are you the thread police?

Wow, that says a lot! To me, a credible poster might have a lot of good information to impart, even on his first post. Whereas a poster that is not credible (judgment call here) does not gain credibility simply by posting 100 times.
Well, this has gone on long enough. You've obviously taken my original response far too personally (wonder why that is?). I've gone to great pains to explain what I thought was obvious, but I've bounced off the brick wall that opinionated people often build to protect themselves, and I'm tired.
So I'll go back to lurking. If you feel the need to berate me further, go ahead, knock yourself out! I've taken myself out of this fight.

Well for a lot of us the "cliqueness" of this forum is a big turn-on. And it is those that actively contribute here that reap the benefits. Lurking is fine but first and only negative posts are suspect - we can only conclude that person has an agenda. Keep in mind that many of us have met each other at various get-togethers across the USA and in Asia. When you have met someone in person, you tend to be a little more forgiving of their point of view.
You will find however that those with the most innocent, dumbest question will be treated with respect and that they will be welcomed into our "community" and thus become part of our "clique".

Dear Travelbuug, I'm so sorry about your bad experience with regards to Disney's reservation system. I suppose your experience shows that it is best to choose to pay only upon check-out at the hotel instead of pre-paying upon reservation. At least that way you got to enjoy yourself first before you get pissed off. I had my own slight disappointments with HK Disney when I had e-mailed queries to them twice only to receive the same reply to both e-mails that I had to call the department in charge directly to get the answer I wanted. I wondered why can't they ask the person in charge and email me back the reply so I won't have to make a long distance call? It's like e-mails still weren't replied as Rkkwan had said. Anyways, I still went there with my family and to my great relief, we had a wonderful time! We're not mainlanders, but yes, this is the only Disney park that I can afford to bring my family to. And I'm glad it's there in spite of my earlier disappointment with their replies to my emails. Some people just don't know how to deal with other people. But why let them spoil your fun? I hope you're able to continue planning your trip with or without Disneyland. Happy birthday to Ms. Au Soo Leng! (your first post was on my birthday)

darna,
Yes, their reservation system is not in sync with the rest of the hotel. I had trouble pre-ordering a cake and making the reservations for my daughter's party at the restaurant -Enchanted Garden, is it? Anyway, I ended up doing it when we got there. It was fine since it was just a few of us, but had we been a large group, we might have been in trouble as there were lots of guests and reservations are necessary. Despite all the little things, we had a great time.

Hi Kibabwe! I remember you and your family took your child to Disney and stayed several days there. I had thought half a day was enough so we went in the park at 3pm and left at 7pm closing time. That certainly wasn't enough time for us. I was really surprised at how much I and my family enjoyed ourselves! I guess growing up with Disney cartoons has made me a Disney kid.
