Air China v SAS?

If anyone's read my few other honeymoon posts, apologies, but now its time to buy plane tix for our Geneva - New York (wedding) - Hawaii - Tokyo - back to Geneva trip. The two cheapest options include either taking Air China on the 10 hour leg from Tokyo to GVA, or Scandinavian. I have never flown with either. Any thoughts on who's better for long haul? Please note its "Air China" and not "China Air" that has had 4 accidents in last 2 years!

I'm pretty sure that neither SAS or Air China fly to Hawaii so what routing are you looking for? Geneva to New York then to Hawaii then to Tokyo and back to Geneva???

Sorry we found several tickets that are multiple airlines, but the Tokyo to Geneva leg would be either Air China or SAS. So just the last portion. And yes, the routing is Geneva to New York (where the wedding is), to Hawaii, to Tokyo, to Geneva.

If you are talking about the Taiwanese carrier, I took them in coach from JFK to Saigon (connection in Taipei) and they were fine..I get confused with several of these airlines with similar names..

That's a round the world routing so have you check the round the world fares from Star Alliance or One World? It will give you more choices for airlines with more direct flights and it could save you money as well.

Hanuman - I didn't even think of that...just called and still looks like it will be more expensive, however the tickets are a better fare class so I can actually upgrade them. It takes two hours for them to put together an itinerary (with me on the phone) and 72 hours to price it, so I'll have to save that for a Saturday, but thanks a lot!

It looks like a Star Alliance RTW ticket.

If those are the choices, definitely take SAS. No question about it.

But also consider Swiss via ZRH, or Lufthansa via FRA or MUC, or ANA/LH via FRA.

Air China should be at the very bottom of the list.

Thanks! Im going to try pricing the RTW one first, i just doubt it will be able to be close to 2800 USD which is what I already have a quote for if I build it myself on kayak.com. I am going to try to buy the SAS one asap!
