Therapy animals at airports?

Never heard of them, never saw them. I don't mean animals to accompany travelers, those are already living at SFO I think.

Personally, I like seeing therapy animals at different locations -- and hopefully they'll be added to other stressful places, like the DMV. I still remember how the agriculture beagle at LAX made my day, even though he was technically "the man" trying to sniff out whether I was carrying any contraband apples (thankfully I wasn't).

I too always enjoyed the beagle at EWR. I always looked for him and was sad he wasn’t around to greet me after my first post pandemic international trip. He never outted the cat treats or candy I had. It wasn’t on his list.

I have several friends whose golden retrievers are therapy/comfort dogs at SMF. They all must go through training and be certified before they can hang out at the gates. I love seeing them there!

I love dogs and enjoy interacting with them but there are people who are very allergic to them and others who are very afraid of them. As long as they are controlled so that people who do not want to be near them can avoid them they are fine with me.

I feel differently about those folks who consider “Fluffy” a therapy dog and need to have him in the cabin with them for long flights. It is not kind to the animals or the others in the plane.

I'm with you 100%! Therapy pets at airports and hospitals are the bomb! 🐾 It's just so heartwarming to see those fluffy furballs spreading joy and comfort to everyone around. They're like instant stress-busters, turning those nerve-wracking moments.
