LaGuardia to JFK

What's the easiest way for my friend to get from LaGuardia to JFK. He's going international from JFK if that matters and has a 3 hour connection time. Thanks.

3 hours from LGA to JFK for an international flight?

Chances are he won't make it.

We need more information:
Where is he flying in from?
Which airline(s)?
Where is here flying to (from JFK)
What time of day?
What day of the week?
Is this bought on ONE ticket or TWO separate tickets?

The eaiest way to get between those airports is to take a cab or private car service. The trip itself is only about 12 miles but, depending on time of day and traffic conditions can easily take 30 to 60 minutes. FYI traffic around JFK can be horrendus - I've spent 20 minutes getting from a hotel just outside the JFK Terminal area to the Terminal.

Add to that the time it takes to deplane at LGA, claim luggage, get the cab (or private car service), check in for the connecting flight, go through TSA security and get to the departure gate and your friend will be lucky indeed if he can do it all in 3 hours.

Your friend needs more time.

Oh yes, will your friend have checked luggage or just carryon only?

3 hours is sufficient. I have done it in 2 hours. Checked luggage? 3 hours, but he needs to grab a cab, not go the cheap way and do the shuttle service.

I have done the LGA to JFK transfer at least a dozen times, and 3 hrs is ample time unless a lot of things go wrong. A taxi takes about 25 mins, unless there's traffic. Worst traffic times are generally from 3-6pm.

A couple of things that can be done to expedite the process: First, find out which terminal at JFK he'll fly from. (Get this info from the JFK web site.) More important, it would help if he is checked in before he gets to JFK. This might be possible via online check-in, or if he can get a boarding pass when he checks in for his flight to LGA (depending on the air carriers used to LGA and from JFK).
