LGA to JFK sat nov 19

Hello i need help

will be flying from DCA to New york. i am considering my options. i have a ticket leaving fromJFK to Morocco at 6:40pm. i need to buy a tick to NYC . Delta is the best choice but it is too expensive 415.00 . my question can i fly to LGA , pick up my luggage and take a taxi to JFK . can get to LGA around 1 pm. or is it better to fly to jfk on AA terminal 8. but i would need to get to terminal 1 with 3 pieces of luggage. is it easy to get cabs between terminals instead of taking the shuttle?? please help thank you.

From LGA to JFK, $30 by cab.

At JFK, there is a Sky Train that goes between terminals. Free, and one comes by about every 2-3 minutes. Don't know about cabs between terminals

You can take the NY Airport Service Shuttle
http://www.nyairportservice.com/schedule.html
for $13. It's a large motorcoach with under-the-bus luggage compartments. Stops at each terminal at both LGA and JFK.

I aways stress about the "what-ifs" of travel. What if there's a major traffic jam and I'm delayed? ... you get the picture. I guess you've got to weigh out the options, and none of them look that great with infant & lots of luggage. Good luck.

Transfer between airports or transfer between terminals? This is a no-brainer, now that JFK has its monorail (AirTrain). You can bring those Smart Carts (to carry all your luggage) on the Airtrain.

Thank you for replying. these smart carts are available at baggage retrieval? are they the regular baggage carts? i am just worried about escalators but there should be elevators to get to and fromthe airtrain. i am sorry but my questions seem stupid but i never used it before and i just want to be prepared. thank you so much.

Yes, the carts are available near the baggage carousels. Just look around. I never use them, so I don't know how much they cost. Someone else will have to help you with that.

And yes, there are elevators to the Airtrain. Just look around for the signs directing you to the Airtrain. I believe they are blue arrows

It will be far easier to fly into JFK AA terminal 8 or 9 vs trying to get from LGA to JFK. On most days, you can get a cab from LGA to JFK in 20min, maybe 30min, so if the fares are better you can do that easily. 1pm arrival at LGA is plenty of time to get to JFK, even if traffic is bad.

There are three different AirTrains at JFK running on two tracks. The outer track goes off airport. Don't take those. They are the ones on the outer loop, closest to the terminals. The inner loop just circles between the terminals 9,8,....1 in <10min. Very simple.

If you are not sure which train to get on, just ask someone & look for the signs that say "ALL TERMINALS". If you get on the wrong train that takes you off airport, you can get off at the 1st stop, Federal Circle, get on the next train going the opposite direction and you'll be back at Terminal 1 in no time (<3min) - no need to panic.
