It is just mocking people, some simply insist on doing that . . . Whatever floats her boat.

Sad really.

Remember that you can also pack liquids in your checked luggage, sealed into plastic baggies.

Nothing wrong with black jeans; very handy and great for travel. Only tough part is washing/drying them on the road.

I wash in the sink every trip; where else?? The bidet?

<the old story of people laughing, rather than trying to understand>
<just mocking people, some simply insist on doing that>

You are both right.

I don't travel with jeans because I never wear them, never have. But I don't see that blue denim or black denim makes a difference.

Why would you take 3 dozen pair of clean underwear? Instead of 4-5 and a few packs of Woolite? Now that seems dumb.

"...not everyone washes their clothes in the sink..."

Right about that. Sometimes I wash them in the shower, while I'm wearing them.

Regarding denim, I do take jeans on the road and like black best. Blue seems to me to be too casual for city visits and black looks presentable longer. But I do like blue denim skirts, though, fine for a number of wearings. But wash both at laundromats. A sink is fine for the rest. Not a bidet, though, too far to bend.

In hot weather I can wash everything in the sink. In cooler/cold weather you don't need to wash outerwear for a 2-3 week trip.

Hey ! I thought I was the only one doing it.

However in China it is very inexpensive to use laundry service. I actually take each time another suit so as to have it cleaned, pressed etc.

For those who think I'm schizophrenic, one time washing and haveing limited luggage, and the other time coming with a full wardrobe, the explanation is quite simple. I travel light when alone, heavy when with the family.

When with family I usually have a car, so I'm not that bothered actually.

I ended up wearing the blue jeans on this Italy trip, mostly for mosaic class, but black would have been fine, probably more versatile. What I wish I had packed/worn was one pair black jeans, one pair Eileen Fisher knit pants (black also), and a lightweight pair of capris in a lighter color.

Bought contact lens fluid over there (at optical store; they don't sell it at the pharmacies) but they only had large bottles; ending up tossing half on the return trip.

Sure, it depends where you are traveling.

In Mexico it is incredibly cheap to have your laundry done for you at a neighborhood lavenderia. But that's not the same as having your Paris hotel do it for you!

Another strategy is to take worn out jeans and drop them and buy new ones during trip.
It drives my wife crazy though. She says I look like a tramp the first half of the trip ;-)

I think I just skipped over the fun part of this thread, and maybe you will think my advice is silly, but: don't take so many damn pairs of shoes.

Possibly only silly for those of us with difficult feet, who change shoes for the sake comfort, not fashion.
