Contact lens solution > 3 oz in carry-on

I need to bring an 8 oz bottle since I'm unsure how available it will be in a small town in Guatemala and I'm gone 4 wks. I've read repeatedly that TSA will allow a larger bottle of lens solution as it's medically necessary, however, I've read older posts (2007) that state TSA agents are inconsistent and will sometimes throw out multi-purpose solutions (vs saline which is explicitly allowed -- but saline isn't a disinfectant and must be used with a heat device).

I've never tried to bring in a large bottle of multipurpose lens solution -- recent feedback would be appreciated -- flying out of ORD. tia!

I'd just take 3 containers of <3 ounces in your ziplock bag if you're not sure. It's easy to buy things like shampoo and toothpaste down there so I use my ziplock for 1st aid stuff and great quality sunblock and bug stuff, sometimes more than one container each depending on the length of my trip.

I can fit a lot in a ziplock!

make that 3 votes! Just put the solution into several 3.4 oz bottles which will be in your 1-qt allowable ziplock baggie.

Lost a Pepto bottle recently that was just a bit too big

so divide and conquer for me in 2 3 oz bottles to be safe.
