27 days to go for us. First trip back to Africa since living in Nigeria (Peace Corps) back in the 60's. So it's off to Tan/Ken/Rwanda as follows

1. Flying CLT-AMS (2 nights in AMS)
2. Flying AMS-JRO Night at Dik Dik
3. Driving Serengeti -3 nights mobile camping
4. 2 nights Tarangire (Kikoti)
5. Cross to Kenya--2 nights Amboseli (Tortilis)
6. Fly to Lewa Downs 2 nights
7. Fly to Mara-3 nights Kichwa Tembo
8. Fly to NBO then to KGL
9. 2 gorilla treks
10. Another night at KGL
11. Ungodly flights home-KGL-NBO-AMS-DTT-CLT

This is a private safari with 2 couples. Really anxious to go. How many times can I pack before the trip??? Taking only carryon. Rick Steves Back Door Packs + Daypack with photo stuff.

Been reading all the posts recently and learning what I could. Promise a trip report if we survive.

Wow, I get to post my upcoming trip on two threads...twice the anticipation! We leave in twelve days for two weeks in Botswana...Horseback Safari and then on to King's Pool. As always, safari has captured much of my waking hours and most of my dream time. "Safe Travels" to everyone who has posted on both threads.

It's just a little over two months until our first trip to Africa, not to overlook the fact that it will be our honeymoon as well! Our itinerary is as follows:

July 16 - JFK to Budapest
July 17 - BUD to CPT via LHR & JNB
July 18 - July 21 - Le Quartier Francais (Franschhoek, Cape Winelands)
July 21 - July 23 - Tsala Treetops Lodge
July 23 - July 26 - Cape Grace Hotel
July 26 - July 27 - Blue Train
July 27 - July 28 - Michaelangelo Hotel
July 28 - August 1 - Londolozi Bateleur Camp

I can't wait. I think I'm nearly as excited for the trip to Africa as I am about getting married! I will post a full trip report on my return, but would appreciate any suggestions for restaurants in Cape Town and Jburg from all you seasoned Africa veterans out there.

Thanks,

Elliott

Elliott,

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. That is a really beautiful itinerary, especially for a honeymoon.

Will you be spending anytime in Budapest, and if not, how did you get such routing?

Wonderful properties you have chosen, from start to finish.

Sharon - Beat you by a day. 15 DAYS to Tanzania and Kenya.

Lynda - You're right behind me. Would love to catch up with you in NBO but you won't be in until late on the 27th my only full day in NBO; and I'm heading up north early on the 28th.

Where will you be on June 4. I have a layover at Wilson (doesn't that sound strange!!!) though lunch scheduled with a friend, until my 3pm flight to the Mara.

Don't have your itinerary in front of me, but if you're flying somewhere on May 28, we might just meet at Wilson... you never know. Send me an email with your details.

Boy, this board is going to be quiet with so many of us gone at the same time. Those left behind, had better keep things happening here on Fodors!
