Finally, some positive news
From the Born Free Foundation:
Finally, we have some positive news with regards to the Amboseli court case!
After a seemingly endless string of court 'mentions', which have been taking
place since October 2005, a date for the court hearing has at last been set for
14th March 2007.
The reasons for this protracted process have been numerous - delays in
submission of documents from the respondants and government representatives
failing to appear in court have all contributed to this disappointingly long
wait. Thankfully, however, throughout this time Amboseli has retained its
National Park status and remains under the management of KWS.
Although March 2007 may feel some time away, it does give us the opportunity to
put together what I feel will be a very strong case. We continue to be very
much aware of the implications that this case could have for other National
Parks in Kenya, and you can be assured we will be fighting hard to succeed. We
will additionally be seeking the advice of the court should either or the
respondants fail to appear at the hearing on the required date, in order to try
and avoid further delays.
