The Coastal Isles and the Okefenokee Restaurants

Latitude 31

Updated 10/24/2012

Fodor's Review

Right on the Jekyll Island Club Wharf, in the middle of the historic district, Latitude 31 wins the prize for best location. The interior is understated and beachy-chic, with hard-wood floors and huge windows overlooking the sea. This is definitely the place to be for a romantic sunset. The menu has lots of seafood, from wild Georgia shrimp to jumbo crab cakes, but there are also several meat and pasta dishes. There is a kids' menu to boot.

Sunset Applause

My trip to the GA coast is not complete without having dinner at this restaurant. The last time I was there there was a moment of silence as the sun set and then everyone actually applauded. This is the most romantic place I know to have a great meal with a sunset view of the river and marsh and when you leave be sure to experience the magic of the sprawling branches of the live oaks in the historic district.

Fantastic fresh seafood in an unpretentious setting- what more could you ask for?

Latitude 31 serves some of the best seafood you'll ever taste. Start with a cold beer or rum runner in the bar, with a dozen oysters (or two) on the half shell. Move into the dining room for the broiled grouper, scallops, and shrimp combo. You will grinning like an idiot with every bite. I think Lars may have ordered a cheeseburger or something.

Tourist Traps Strike Again!

Food was average, price was ridiculous for what it was, portions were somewnat small and salad was offered but not included. Waitress was nice but very busy. The atmosphere reminded me of the cafeteria at my high school. Location was very good.

Watch the alligators swim while dining at Latitude 31

Food was absolutely the best. I had the pan fried grouper over pasta. Wow!! It is enough for 2 people to share. The service was super! The prices were very reasonable. The view was amazing. We even watched an alligator swimming in the water while we were dining. I would recommend Latitude 31 to everyone who visits Jekyll Island. If I could rate it more than a 5 I would.

The only thing better than the ambiance is the shrimp!

Great setting, great service, and even better food. Extremely fresh ingredients and experience preparation make Latitude 31 a MUST for hungry vacationers. Surprisingly inexpensive, the cost is comparable to Red Lobster. But considering the view, the atmosphere, and the tremendous cuisine, the price is the ONLY comparison.
