Right on the Jekyll Island Club Wharf, in the middle of the historic district, Latitude 31 wins the prize for best location. The menu has everything from oysters Rockefeller to seafood crepes to bourbon peach- and pecan-glazed pork tenderloin. There's also a kids' menu.

My trip to the GA coast is not complete without having dinner at this restaurant. The last time I was there there was a moment of silence as the sun set and then everyone actually applauded. This is the most romantic place I know to have a great meal with a sunset view of the river and marsh and when you leave be sure to experience the magic of the sprawling branches of the live oaks in the historic district.
