In a state with a burgeoning metropolis, a modest amount of coastline, and ample mountains, the list of things to do in Georgia is about as varied as Georgia itself. Head into nature with a hike up a waterfall, or, if history is calling, make your way to Atlanta’s Michael C. Carlos Museum to visit relics thousands of years old.

Hike Up A Waterfall

At 720 feet high, Amicalola Falls is easily the tallest waterfall in Georgia. Be sure to grab your most trustworthy pair of hiking shoes as you walk up hundreds of steps to the top.  There are small bridges to cross and plenty of gorgeous scenery. For a less tiring hike, try Angel Falls or Blue Hole Falls.

Visit Bonaventure Cemetery

It’s not often that you find yourself casually strolling around a cemetery, but Savannah’s Bonaventure Cemetery is hauntingly beautiful and definitely worth a visit. Although the cemetery, which is on the grounds of a former plantation, opened to the public in 1907, it gained popularity following the 1994 release of John Berendt’s novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The novel features the cemetery’s famous Bird Girl statue on its cover.
