Stretch Your Legs

Pine Mountain Trail is a favorite of the nearly 40 miles of trails in Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park that are designated for hikers only. Although each part of the trail is interesting in its own right, Dowdell's Knob Loop, near the center, makes a great day hike at 4.7 miles. The 6.5-mile Wolfden Loop is another beautiful part of the trail, traveling past beaver dams, over Hogback Mountain, and along the Mountain Creek Nature Trail, which features all manner of plant life. Trail maps are available at the State Park office and at Callaway Gardens Country Store.
