This newly restored 1926 hotel at the northern end of downtown Tampa offers a well-manicured glimpse into a bygone era amid a bustling modern urban core. The 19-story hotel is part of the city's skyline. Here you're within walking distance of the Straz Center as well as numerous choice downtown restaurants. The decor is ornate, and due to renovations the rooms are larger than you'd expect in a place that's nearly a century old. The Sapphire Room lounge features martinis
and other classic cocktails, and the Crystal Dining Room serves Mediterranean fare in honor of the owner's Greek heritage.

On first impression of the lobby, this hotel shines. However, the elevators were out of service & we had to ride the service elevator to our 19th floor room which was not ready. There wasn't any spare toilet paper (housekeeping had not changed it & it was almost empty). The next morning, there was no hot water for showers. Avoid this hotel at all costs!!
