Fodor's Review:

The sunny, elevated stone terrace looks across at the 15th-century Temple de la Madeleine, homemade fruit tarts sell for 3 SF per slice between 3 and 6 PM, and the lunch-only kitchen in this big, plain, friendly canteen serves wholesome plats du jour, choucroute (in winter), filets de perche, and chocolate or citrus mousse. The city's temperance league owns and operates the Taverne, so it serves no wine or beer.
