The Adolphus
Once again I would like to say that my recent experience at the Adolphus was a delight. Yes an older hotel in need of some TLC but the hospitality shown by the staff far exceeded any experience I have had over the years. I travel weekly for work and stay hotels about three or four nights a week. The hotels are typical business class hotels (Omni, Starwood, Marriott, Hilton Hyatt, with a few boutiques like Kimpton when able). I checked online for nearby hotels and booked at the Adolphus, truly because it was closest. And admittedly I was concerned since the rate was very reasonable. I was impressed - from the warm welcome by the front desk clerk, to the lobby bartender, to the conscious housekeeping staff and the French Room old world service, this was a return to a more gracious time for me.

So glad you enjoyed your experience. I like to say that what Dallas lacks in natural beauty, we make up for in warmth and Texas hospitality. The Adolphus needs some love but the staff is wonderful and the French Room is one of DFW's best.

This post made me think back to a business trip I made to Dallas, maybe 25 years ago. I got to stay at The Adolphus hotel when it had just opened. Oh my, I was so impressed. It was one of my first business trips and I simply loved the hotel. I had an enormous, beautiful room that seemed to me that o had died and gone to Heaven! Being a mid-30 year old teacher and single mom with 2 kids under 8, this wasn't an everyday event for me.
Thanks for taking me back to that trip.
